Position Summary:
Provides 1:1 medical support to students with special health needs as directed by a physician and school nurse. Maintains health records, ensures student safety, and may accompany students on the bus as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer medications and perform medical procedures (e.g., suctioning, catheterization, gastrostomy care, respiratory treatments, blood glucose monitoring).
Monitor and support student health needs, respond to emergencies, and promote independence in the school setting.
Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with district, state, and professional standards.
Collaborate with school staff, healthcare providers, and families to ensure comprehensive student care.
Participate in screenings, health education, and school health team activities.
Protect confidentiality and practice within ethical and professional guidelines.
Qualifications:
Current Washington State RN or LPN license (renewed annually).
Completion of state-approved nursing education program.
CPR/First Aid certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
Background clearance required.
Experience with children with special health care needs preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong clinical skills in medication administration and specialized procedures.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs (with assistance).
Work primarily indoors with some outdoor duties; exposure to inclement weather, student outbursts, and infectious diseases.
Requires use of protective equipment (gloves, masks) as directed.
