AvaMed Workforce is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) for a 6-month contract at High Desert State Prison in Susanville, CA (Medical, 8-hour shifts, 2 weeks of orientation).

Assignment details

• Location: High Desert State Prison, Susanville, CA
• Dates: 11/23/2026 - 05/31/2027
• Shift: Wednesday-Sunday, 5:45 AM-2:15 PM (Days), 30-minute meal
• Orientation: 2 weeks, Monday-Friday 6:00 AM-2:30 PM

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing or psychiatric technician care to patients within scope of license
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered and document accurately
• Monitor patients, take vital signs and report changes in condition
• Support clinic flow, sick call and provider visits
• Follow all safety, security and contraband procedures

Requirements

• Active California RN license (BRN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician license (BVNPT)
• Current BLS (AHA)
• Correctional, behavioral health or acute care experience preferred
• Background check and facility security clearance
• TB test, immunizations and facility health clearances
