AvaMed Workforce is hiring a part-time Psychiatrist (PSYT) for a contract at California Men's Colony (CMC), a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) state prison in San Luis Obispo, CA. This is a 0.50 position in the Mental Health STRT program, weekends only.

Assignment details

Location: California Men's Colony, San Luis Obispo, CA
Dates: 12/28/2026 - 06/27/2027
Schedule: Part-time (0.50), weekends only, Saturday-Sunday, 7:00 AM-5:00 PM or 8:00 AM-6:00 PM
Training: must be available Wednesday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM to attend mandatory annual In-Service Training (IST), once per calendar year

Responsibilities

Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and medication management for incarcerated patients
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary mental health treatment team
Document care accurately in the facility's health record
Follow all custody, safety and security procedures

Requirements

Active California Physician and Surgeon license (Medical Board of California or Osteopathic Medical Board of California)
Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry
Active DEA registration
Correctional, forensic or inpatient psychiatry experience preferred
Background check and CDCR security clearance
TB test, immunizations and facility health clearances
